Journalism links
These are links to select web pages recently bookmarked by members of my delicious.com network — and some opportunities inspired by those pages:
- Keep them coming back (how?) [Teaching Online Journalism] (from cophotog) – Mindy McAdams takes a look at Rob Curley’s “five Ps” that drive web traffic. She points to personal communication as the “most neglected area for potential success.” Opportunity: Connect members of your community with links on various platforms.
- My ‘Crisis’ Advice to Newspaper Company CEOs: 11 Points to Ponder [EditorandPublisher] (from agow) – Among Steve Outing’s advice: Hire a vice president of social media; provide one place for readers to get “micro-personal news” they now get from multiple social networks. Opportunity: As Outing proposes, use existing social networks to provide ”micro-personal news”.
- Xark!: Twitter: Menace or Threat? (from agahran) – Dan Conover says “we’re already moving on toward Web 3.0, in which smart informatics agents are going to create news tools that are going to bitch-slap whatever remains of your 20th-century media companies in 2010.” Opportunity: Learn and create 3.0 news tools now.
