Journalism links
These are links to select web pages recently bookmarked by members of my delicious.com network — and some opportunities inspired by those pages:
- What will happen to news publishers? A guess based on what’s happening right now [Online Journalism Blog] (from richardk) – While describing a news organization of the future, Wilbert Baan calls reporting a “networked job.” Opportunity: Start building that network immediately.
- Networked Journalism: “More Passive?” Not Really [Poynter Online] (from denoted) – Paul Bradshaw says journalists must make themselves “visible, accessible, and trustworthy” to make it easy for sources to find and contact them. Opportunity: Use social media to become the “stimulator” Bradshaw describes.
- New news flows [Scripting News] (from richardk) – Dave Winer sees a need for new networking and editoral tools that can help make sense of the thousands of pictures that flow through the internet from live events. Opportunity: Work with developers to create tools that help parse user-generated content.
- Interactive Narratives (from ptd) – Site highlights multimedia presentations from various news organizations. Opportunity: Follow this example to create a trustworthy portal for the topic you cover.
- Google News won’t list neighborhood news site [Lost Remote] (from amonck) – The journalists behind MyBallard.com are having a hard time getting Google News to index the news site. Opportunity: If your blog delivers news, make sure that Google News and Yahoo News index it.
- PDA’s Newsbucket [guardian.co.uk] (from paulb) - Jemima Kiss’s Delicious bookmarks published on The Guardian. Opportunity: Use Delicious to power a section or page on your site.
